A lot of people across Karnataka stood hours to get their EPIC cards (Voter ID Cards) printed. But at the end of the day it all turned out to be such a hoax and such wastage of out tax money, as if the government is dead sure, that they are not going to come back to power again.
Most of the citizens got these cards made for the chief purpose of being able to use them as their ID proof, Address proof and Date of birth proof for various other documents like Passport, PAN card, etc. But when they finally got the cards, it was such disappointing to see that 90% of the data printed on them are FALSE.
For most of them, the address printed on the back is completely wrong. e.g. more than 10000 people in our locality have the exact same address in ALL the cards, and that one address is also that of a house more than 10 KMs from the locality, a different PIN code altogether. There goes the dreams of using it as an address proof.
The date of birth printed is like ‘xx/xx/1980′ for all the cards. First of all, this drowns the hope of using this card as a date of birth proof. Even the year is wrong for most of the citizens. Probably just enough to prove that one is older than 18 years, so they can vote.
I’ll not even talk of other blunders, like spelling mistakes in the names, incorrect father’s/husband’s names, father’s name in place of husband’s name and vice versa, etc…
Even the rooms where webcams were fitted to take photos, are so dimly lit, that everyone looks more like the ghosts they might look like after their death, than how they look now. So finally forget about using it as an ID proof either.
Ultimately, the only use left for these pieces of junk is to show it at the time of voting and then throw it away in the dustbin outside the polling booth.
I fail to understand, what was the necessity in spending so much for making these junks?
